Ma'am, What's In Your Hand?
Following the lead of New Jersey, California will enforce new legislation in a few days..a ban on hand held cell phones while driving as of July 1st. Here's the breakdown:
18 and older: If you must talk on a cell phone while driving, you absolutely have to use a hands-free device beginning July 1, 2008. If you break the law, your first offense will cost you $20 and it will be $50 for each subsequent conviction. (seems kind of cheap to me..will be interesting to see cops pulling over folks for these violations)
Younger than 18: It is pretty simple for you … cell phones are completely banned. You may not use a cell phone while driving and you may not text or use laptops. This is a strict law and if you are under 18 and using a cell phone while driving, you will be fined. (BTW..who is using a laptop while driving? Sounds kind of impossible to me?)
My Prediction: The state of California will make a windfall of cash from cell phone fines..because Cali-folks cannot go without their cell phones, and most will be too lazy to buy hands-free devices until they get caught. Only time will tell..

I don't think people should be chatting away on cell phones while trying to drive in the first place. LOL!!! I can't imagine someone using a Laptop while driving- but it has probably happened.
