Unfortunately, leadership cannot be taught.
We can lead by example though!!! Good post!!!
I think it is an important distinction, between manager & leader. And I think it is possible for people to learn from natural leaders, such as Captain Nelson.

Some folks just need to work a little bit harder, or be more aware of their decisions, to lead vs. manage.
Things that can be managed: time, inanimate objects
Things that cannot be managed: decisions, people, crises

People exhaust too much time trying to manage the latter instead of the former. Leadership requires experience, knowledge, instinct, drive, competence and confidence. Most of these are intrinsic but not obvious qualities. They can be cultivated, but only in the right environment. The worst thing you can do is to teach management skills to someone who you really want to have lead.
